Even abstract art. We readily accept that anything in a museum is a work of art. I went to the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and I saw one painting that was literally a black canvas with a single strip of yellow. Even though I don't understand the statement that is trying to be made, I agreed that it must be art because its in a renowned museum.
Then there is graffiti. Technically illegal. Generally frowned upon. BUT I think some graffiti is "art". When graffiti is making a statement, when it is something that thought was put into, then its art. NOT when somebody spray paints their name on the wall of a building, or when somebody puts swear words all over an alleyway.
This picture on the left is called North America's Footpring. I think the statement of this is pretty clear. Its by a man who goes by the alias Roadsworth because most of his graffiti is done on roads.
This picture on the right is called Life Support System, also by Roadsworth. I think it is so creative how he incorperates the street markings into his art.

It is really cool to see that he does his work on the roads. Its different but cool.
ReplyDeleteSO GREAT. His stuff is so awesome, and really thought provoking. I love the simplicity of the footprint on the cross-walk. So good. SOOOO good.
