You Best SHUT UP!

This pet peeve is not often around to bother me.

But when it occurs, it makes me want to SCREAM!

It is when pay a large sum of money to see a professonal musical, ballet or a freaking high school musical...

AND PEOPLE TALK.

Not just whisper once in a while, but talk through out the entire show.

Last Wednesday I took the day off school to go and see the hit musical Wicked with the music department. This is probably one of my FAVOURITE musicals if not number one in my books. So when a group of irritating teenage girls decided to talk throughout the second half, well it was just too much.

And the things these girls said! They sounded so stupid. I am relieved to say that they were not from our own W-O. Chubby Crusader would be proud.

So the lesson learned? If you ever go to a show with me and decide to talk, you better be prepared to deal with the consequences.

  1. Haha that's so true. I went with some friends a week earlier and I really enjoyed it too. Probably the best play I've seen.

  2. I'm with ya--I have a musical snobbery tendency but loved Wicked.
As for people chatting during shows, that is definitely a "peeve" we share. My sister always fears this will happen when we go to plays or movies, because she knows I'll get my teacher groove on and discipline the offenders--whether they're teens, tweens or grannies. Once a girl actually started talking on her cell phone during a movie. I almost lost it on her.

Also, I have been lucky enough to chaperone many school trips and (hope I'm not jinxing it here) have always been proud of our students as audience members. Maybe the threatening speeches before the shows help, but I think it's simply that we have a classy bunch.
